Your wedding theme is one of the most critical components of your special day because it helps define your decor and color scheme, your favors, and even your wedding dress. So you want to make sure you choose the right one for you; here are our top tips for choosing your wedding theme.
1. Get Inspired
If you are unsure or have no idea what you would like for a wedding theme try and keep an open mind and hit all sources of inspiration. This is when you will really want to go crazy and pin hundreds of pins and browse real weddings. You will want to think about what things you love and may want to incorporate into your wedding.
2. Think Seasons and Setting
Perhaps the easiest way to find your wedding theme is to use your venue and when you are getting married as the building block of your theme. For example, a spring wedding is perfectly paired with pretty pastels, the fall to a rustic wedding with hues of autumn. If your wedding venue is in a beautiful barn the theme could be country whereas a wedding in the Caribbean could be tropical paradise.
3. Make It Personal
The most important thing when choosing your theme is that it means something special to you. Choose a theme that reflects your personality and style as a couple. My husband and I had our reception at a refurbished train station and we love to travel the world so our travel inspired wedding theme was an easy choice.
4. Get Organized
You have spent hours pinning away or even created a beautiful scrapbook with all of your favorite looks. Pinterest is an invaluable tool but with hundreds of pins you can become quickly overwhelmed. Once you have your inspiration take a look at what you really want, organize it all in a way you can go through it and begin a process of elimination.
5. Have Fun!
This was probably one of my most favorite things to do during the entire wedding process. I enjoyed finding the things that I loved most and trying to put it all together into one theme. The best part about choosing a theme is that there are no hard and fast rules; just make sure you are both happy with the theme you have selected.
