Planning your wedding is probably something you haven’t done before so inquiring with vendors may not come naturally to you. The good news is that this doesn’t have to be a painful or a time-consuming task. Follow the steps below to ease your anxiety and find your dream vendors!
1. Search and Don’t Be Afraid!
Before reaching out to any vendors you must first do your research. If you’re just searching for pricing and packages options, some vendors put that information right on their website, so be sure to look to see if it’s there before you ask. With the right research you are able to make more informed decisions and show the potential vendor you have done your homework. Also, know that it is okay to search outside of where your wedding is occurring- vendors are often willing to travel!
2. Trim Your Options
It’s great that you have done your research and have a handful of vendors you are interested in but don’t just send one big mass email to every single vendor in your area. Narrow down your list to your top choices and then send inquiries to them individually.
3. Keep it Short, Kind, and Informative.
Start off by telling the vendor why you are emailing them- what is it about them that made you decide to inquire? This is a great way to start developing a relationship with the potential vendor and may entice them to want to work with you. It’s important to maintain a good relationship with your vendors—you want them to be as excited to work with you as you are with them. Provide them with your wedding date, your venue, what services of theirs you are interested in, and what your estimated budget is for those services.
And the biggest thing of all- respond! Even if you’ve decided to go with someone else, please respond to them and let them know. Not only is it polite but we live in a small world and you never know when you may want to work with someone again.
