MORE ABOUT US
Tell us about your company and how you got started.
We are a wedding decorating and planning duo established in 2013. The company actually started from a Facebook post that I (Lacey) made following my own wedding. I said that I was having wedding withdrawal and that I wanted to start my own wedding planning business. Chantal messaged me and said, “Let’s do it!” And that is how Chantilly Lace Events was created. The business has grown since then into rental and coordination services along with the design and décor.
What makes your work unique? Why should couples hire you?
There are a few things that we certainly pride ourselves on. The first is that we are a duo. We are equals in the planning and design process. What is great about this is that we are always bouncing ideas off of each other. We work really well together because we both have different personalities, so we are able to come up with different designs to present to our clients.
Another aspect to the company that is unique is our customization of each wedding. Our motto is “Designed to be Remembered. You are unique. Your big day should be too.” We want to ensure that our clients’ personalities shine through on their wedding day-whatever that personality may be! We have done everything from white romantic décor to Dungeons and Dragons inspired centerpieces. We want the day, ultimately, to be a reflection of the couple- to make their day a day to be remembered for all the best reasons.
What is your ideal client like?
That’s a tough one! We love all of our clients! We love the couple who comes in and says “This is what we want.” Because we then know our steps forward from the get-go. But we also love the client who comes in with only a basic vision of what they want and allows us to design something for them.
What is your approach to wedding planning and design?
The first step for any of our services (rental, design and setup or coordination) is to meet the clients! We want to get to know our potential clients’ personalities before beginning the process. We just sit down with a few questions (and a coffee!) and start to work on designing the look for their wedding. During that initial meeting, we also show samples of the linens and décor items we have. Once everything is picked we schedule another “mock” meeting with the couple closer to the wedding date so they can see all of the items together.
We are always in communication with our clients via email or Facebook. We send picture updates of their custom orders and touch base as needed. When it comes to the actual design work we do take a few specific steps in order to ensure décor is perfect for the occasion. First, we gauge the client and their vision. Secondly, we keep in mind the venue. Some styles fit better with certain venues. Thirdly, we keep in mind budget. Different décor pieces can vary in price, so we want to make sure that we keep our clients’ budget in mind while we are designing. Overall, our main process is to put our clients first and add our input as needed.
What is the creative process like? How do you work with couples to bring their vision to life?
The creative process is our favourite part! We love meeting with our clients initially to understand their vision. Once we have that we go back to our offices and let the creative juices flow. We like to give 2 or 3 options when we are doing centerpieces.
What trends are you seeing among Maritime weddings lately?
Last year burlap and lace were huge! Though we are still seeing it some this year, there has been a big transition into a more whimsical look. We are seeing neutral colours, branches and greenery! Lots of greenery and we are loving it!
What is your favorite thing about weddings in The Maritimes?
How close the families are. When we schedule a consult with a client we don’t just meet the engaged couple. We meet their families. And we love seeing all the dynamics. Everyone is so excited and willing to help. When we do coordination, for example, we have so many helpers coming together to make the wedding happen. It’s great to see. We also love how close we get to our clients. Trusting someone with your wedding is a huge deal and we love that our clients have chosen us to do this for them.
Which wedding venues in The Maritimes do you love and why?
That’s so tough! There are different reasons to love so many venues in The Maritimes. It all depends on what you want your wedding day to be like. We are really excited that this year we are travelling to Moncton, Belle Isle, Mactaquac and even a clients’ private barn!
In general though, different types of venues offer different things. Hotels offer the “one stop shop” feel. You have your location, food, bar and staff all in one. Community centres offer a clean slate where any décor style is possible. Barns offer a unique atmosphere and setting. It’s impossible to pinpoint a favourite.
Best piece of advice you can give Brides and Grooms?
Don’t lose yourself! Just because blush is in- doesn’t mean you have to have it at your wedding! Let your personality and unique vision shine through. You want people to walk into the reception and know it’s your wedding.
