Emily Brawley is a professional makeup artist specializing in bridal makeup, based in Fredericton and working province-wide.
Emily gained valuable experience in the art of enhancing a woman’s natural beauty with makeup, helping them to look and feel their best. Her approach to bridal makeup is simple- to make bride’s feel beautiful but also assuring that they will still recognize themselves.
There simply aren’t enough good things to say about Emily. I have had the pleasure of “sitting in her chair,” and know firsthand that her warm, peaceful presence (you’ll love to have around on your wedding morning!) and amazing makeup skills would be a blessing to any bride on her wedding day. You will not regret getting in touch with Emily!
MORE ABOUT EMILY
Tell us a little bit about your company and how you got started.
I began Makeup by Emily in 2012 after a brief ownership of a small beauty boutique in Fredericton. Owning a retail shop really taught me that my passion lies in making women feel beautiful, not in stocking shelves and doing payroll and accounting and all that menial stuff which goes along with a business. Now through freelancing I can focus solely on the art of makeup.
What is your favorite part of the job?
My favorite part of this job is getting to be part of a brides special day. Being in an environment of joy and excitement and romance almost every weekend is such a pleasure.
What makes you different from others in your field?
I think what I’m particularly good at is doing someone’s makeup and making them feel beautiful but also assuring that they will still recognize the face staring back at them in the mirror.
What is your ideal client like?
Well the client who is willing to trust me 100% is always my fave:)
If you could pick one unique product or service offering, which would be your favorite, and why?
I tell all my brides to get a pair of false lashes on, even if they already have extensions. They just add such glamour, they’re a must.
Any great stories from working with a client?
One time a bridesmaid had showed up to where I was already doing the bride and she had just come from having her makeup done at a salon. She sat down near us and 2 min later burst into tears because she hated how her makeup looked. I told her to stop crying, I would fix it, free of charge and she just looked at me like I was an angel sent from heaven! LOL!
Are there any trends that you absolutely love or would love to see Brides leave behind?
Oh man, this whole contouring thing has gotten out of hand! I blame YouTube and the Kardashians. I always do some subtle contouring, but your wedding day is not the time to create a whole new face with a pound of foundation and concealer and contour cream, haha!
What is your favorite thing about weddings in The Maritimes?
I have traveled all over NB for weddings and I love how even very elegant affairs will often still incorporate classic elements of maritime life, from ATVs to hunting and Alpine beer:)
