MORE ABOUT JENNIFER
I started my company 9 years ago after moving back to The Maritimes from Toronto. I became certified with The Wedding Planners Institute of Canada in 2008. Originally Kiss The Bride began in Moncton, NB which allowed us to cater to all of the large cities in The Maritimes. In 2010 we moved to PEI (my home) and our clientele evolved into something entirely different. Our clients are mainly couples who are traveling from all over the world to be married in PEI for a destination wedding. It’s so much fun to help them plan their wedding as well as show off our amazing Island!
What makes your work unique? Why should couples hire you?
Being certified by WPIC is something I take quite seriously and I consider it a strong asset. It means that I am held to certain industry standards and must maintain those standards in order to keep my certification. Also, having lived on PEI for over half of my life, I would definitely consider myself an expert on the industry here. Lastly, I don’t just love weddings, I love people. Getting to know my clients as we work together for sometimes years, to plan their weddings, is one of the best parts of my job.
What is your ideal client like?
My ideal client is someone who trusts me. Sometimes it can be difficult to do but it is important to do. Also complete open communication and an awesome sense of humor.
What is your approach to wedding coordination?
It’s actually a personal approach. Over the span of many months, my clients and I get to know each other well. We spend a lot of time communicating. Approaching a wedding like it’s “just another wedding” will never produce positive results. I’ve been married and I know how important that day was for me and every painstaking detail I planned within it. I take that into consideration for all of my clients.
What is the planning process like? How do you work with couples to bring their vision to life?
I usually start by creating their budget. This allows me to understand what they envision as well as get an idea of what they are looking for with each vendor and supplier they need. We prioritize their needs and do much of the leg work, make suggestions and implement their selections throughout the process. We use a few social media tools to connect with them and keep things organized as well (can’t give away any secrets).
What trends are you seeing among Maritime weddings lately?
Lots of rustic themes still. I think the casual, less formal approach to weddings is what is most appealing and has kept this trend alive for as long as it has.
What is your favorite thing about weddings in The Maritimes?
PEI. This Island is magical in the summer.
Which wedding venues in The Maritimes do you love and why?
I love Clinton Hills. They’ve just got it all and it’s a very unique venue offering beautiful views. I also love beach weddings, because PEI beaches are amazing!
