MORE ABOUT ANDY
Tell us about your company and how you got started.
In photography, I love capturing moments and genuine emotions, and there’s no better place than at a wedding. After doing my first one for a friend, I quickly realized how amazing and unique a wedding can be. I get the opportunity to photograph moments like the first time a couple sees each other on their wedding day, knowing that years from now they’ll look back at the images with the same tears of love in their eyes as on their special day. Telling a couple’s love story through their wedding photos is a challenge, but it’s also extremely rewarding. With 6 years and over 80 weddings since my first one, I couldn’t imagine doing anything else!
What makes your work unique? Why should couples hire you?
My photography style is all about capturing genuine moments and timeless images. Your love story is one-of-a-kind, so I work hard to make sure my images are a true representation of you as a couple, and tell your whole wedding story. Trends change, so I make sure my images are clean and professional, so I know you’ll love them for decades to come
It’s extremely important to me that my you feel comfortable and confident in my photography and my business practices. I’m proud to work with all my couples, so I show every wedding on my website’s blog, not just my best ones. It’s important to me to be transparent, so I don’t hide my pricing or any fees, it’s all right there on my website. I guarantee a turnaround of 7 days on all my weddings, meaning less stress and waiting for you and your family. I work hard to earn your trust and to help you get the most of your wedding and your wedding photos.
What is your ideal client like?
My ideal couple is planning a special and personal wedding with a focus on fun! They value professional photography and are excited for their images, but also care about their guests’ experience and want to spend quality time with everyone who attends. With good timeline planning, they’ve prepared to get awesome photos, planned a personalized ceremony and are ready to have an extremely fun reception. Most of all, my ideal couple is thrilled to start the rest of their lives together and celebrate with their family and friends!
How do you describe your shooting style? Are you laid back or aggressive? Do you tell the whole story of the day?
I definitely take a more laid back approach to working with my couples. When I’m working directly with you, I’m all about capturing your real emotions for each other. Rather than spend a lot of time posing, I’ll have you dance, whisper in each other’s ear or make each other laugh, all to capture genuine moments. During the rest of the day, my main focus is to capture your real moments and emotions to best tell the whole story of your day.
How do you make Brides and Grooms feel relaxed in front of the camera?
While I’ve got a few tricks up my sleeve to get people warmed up at the start of a shoot, something I’ve done that makes a positive impact on your wedding day photos is to have an engagement session with all of my wedding couples. By including a free engagement session in all of my packages, I get a chance to get to know you as a couple and how to get the best possible photos from both of you. Not only do you get some great, casual photos of you both, but the experience of having worked with me before makes a huge difference in your comfort with me on your wedding day. An engagement session is a great way to get to know each other, and it makes for better wedding photos. Win-win!
What trends when it comes to wedding photography are you seeing among Maritime couples lately?
To be honest, I don’t pay much attention to trends. Instead, I focus on delivering professional, clean and timeless photos that couples will love for decades to come. That being said, couples now are really starting to make their day more personal. When your wedding represents who you are as a couple and you have an amazing time, your photos will really come alive.
What is your favorite thing about weddings in The Maritimes?
Weddings here in the Maritimes are very much about fun, family and the couple’s love story. I love that they’re more of a celebration and less of a show. It just makes things feel real, and it makes all the wedding I go to memorable.
Which wedding venues in The Maritimes do you love and why?
The Maritimes are full of wonderful venues for every sort of wedding. Here in Fredericton, we’ve got some great “rustic-themed” venues like the Homestead or “Off the Beaten Path”, Some more urban spots like the Station on York, and some great spots in the UNB/STU campuses. However, some of my favourite wedding locations have been places that are special to the couple like a family member’s cottage, a small ocean beach, or their favourite park. A non-traditional venue with some clever planning and the right décor can create a truly unforgettable wedding.
What tips or advice can you give to couples who are looking to book their wedding photographer?
On the day of your wedding, you end up spending more time with your photographer than almost anyone else. Hire someone you feel comfortable with. Our job is to capture your most intimate and precious moments, so if you’re not completely comfortable, you might be disappointed with your photos. Keep this in mind when meeting with your potential photographer. Someone who ‘gets you’ will capture your wedding day as the showcase of your love story that it really is.

Anywhere there’s mountains. Europe, South Africa or even Alberta. I love mountains and it’s the one thing we don’t get much of in Atlantic Canada.
