MORE ABOUT JENNIFER
Tell us a little bit about your company and how you got started.
I started in 2009, by chance. I struggled at first to find my niche, changing things that did not work and improving upon things that did work. What I realized along the way was that I was seeing a distinct pattern; the things that were really working were the things that enabled me to highlight my artistic and creative personality.
As my business and reputation grew, and I found clients more trusting, this was where I could really take their visions, unleash my creativity and really run with it. These weddings are the ones that the brides always get back to me and say I nailed it!
What makes your work unique? Why should couples hire you?
My work is unique because I am always coming up with new designs and always willing to take an idea and make it a reality. I am very passionate about my work and love what I do. I always put all of my creative side into each wedding I do. I feel clients should hire me because I personally work with each and every client; every step of the way from initial consultation to set up the day of the wedding ensuring that every detail is perfect.
What is your ideal client like?
My ideal client is someone that has a vision and lets me run with it. My most beautiful weddings are those that my clients have full trust in me and we work together to create their vision.
What is your approach to wedding design and decor?
My approach is to brain storm, come up with a plan then research everything that is available for me to turn my client’s vision into a reality. I love bringing in new décor so each wedding is unique in its own way. I do research to make sure I am up to date with industry trends and I love a challenge.
What is the planning process like? How do you work with couples to bring their vision to life?
In the initial consultation, we discuss budget, colors, styles and things that they really love. I like to take time and get to know their personality and bring that out in the décor style. I then start the design process with the client ideas and make suggestions on what we can do to get the look they want. After bouncing ideas and examples back and forth we come up with the ideal design that they love.
What trends are you seeing among Maritime weddings lately?
Recent trends I have noticed are blush, gold and dark colors. Deep burgundy’s and Navy accented with gold along with lots of flowing greenery.
What is your favorite thing about weddings in The Maritimes?
My favorite thing about maritime weddings is the closeness you achieve from each and every client you work with. I get to become so close with them, I often see myself in the bridal suite tweaking bouquets and helping with boutonnieres. I find my role can sometimes take so many different titles. I am a decorator however, when something needs to be done, one must step up to the plate; literally, I have helped bus tables on an event that was short staffed.
Which wedding venues in The Maritimes do you love and why?
I love so many of the Venues in the Maritimes, but I would have to say my absolute favorite is Kingswood Lodge. Not only is it beautiful but the staff are amazing to work with, which makes my job so much easier.
Each and every venue here has a completely different feel and look. For example, the modern look of the Delta Fredericton, the charm of the Crown Plaza, to the rustic feel of The Homestead. Each is so unique and allows me to have completely different styles of decor at each one. We are also a preferred vendor at most of the venues in the Fredericton area.
