Every year Pantone releases a color of the year, a color which dictates the way for color trends in fashion, home décor and my absolute favorite weddings. 2016 was an unprecedented year with Pantone selecting for the first time ever two gorgeous shades: rose quartz and serenity. Two beautiful shades that are sure to be paired together for some time.
This year, the official Pantone Color of the Year 2017 is greenery. A refreshing shade that is symbolic of new beginnings. This fresh shade of green signifies new beginnings, growth, and flourishment. Dee Wilkie, surface designer and self-proclaimed color enthusiast adds, “Any nature loving bride should definitely consider incorporating Pantone’s Color of the Year Greenery into their wedding this year. This green shade symbolizes reconnecting with each other as well as nature. Not to mention, this shade of green would look good on almost any bridesmaid! Flower crowns can also be made out of greenery and since there would be little to no flowers used, a bride’s costs would be cut down too!”
Nature’s neutral, Pantone Greenery is an extremely versatile shade that works for all seasons and color combos. Greenery can be used alongside neutrals, brights, deeper shades, pastels and metallics. To show you just how pretty and versatile this color is, I’ve created a collage of some of my favorite greenery infused weddings for your inspiration.
How to incorporate the Pantone Color of the Year 2017…
- The Stationery: Pair the fresh hue with pastels and neutrals for a light and romantic stationery suite.
- The Style: Think feminine and floaty for the bridesmaids and choose light summer suits paired with greenery (think seeded eucalyptus or dusty miller) boutonnieres for the guys.
- The Flowers: Simplicity is key with this look, lush greens, succulents, airy plants and super green garland would all be perfect. Pair with more subtle greenery like lambs ear and dusty miller to keep the tones muted. Tie your beautiful bouquet with some silk ribbon.
- The Decor: Think minimal but with a feminine touch. Cascading eucalyptus make a stunning ceremony setting or even a fun photo booth backdrop! Frame the welcome sign to your wedding with a single string of greenery or opt for greens in lieu of table linens for a table runner. For a cake, I love the idea of the buttercream one above with simple and fresh greenery. All of these are simple and effortless, yet stunning.
