MORE ABOUT ASHLEY
Tell us about your company and how you got started.
I started Creative Destiny in 2012 after I had my first son. After spending years in various graphic design positions I knew this was my passion and it was my ‘destiny’.
What makes your work unique? Why should couples hire you?
All of my designs are custom made by me and printed locally using premium papers. If a couple is looking for something personalized or out of the box I am able to work with them on a design concept to create something one of a kind.
What is your ideal client like?
My ideal client is laid back and planning a creative and fun wedding day that their guests will remember. They value local products and services and prefer to leave things to the pros. They enjoy traveling, value family and of course love paper!
What is your approach to design?
I work with couples to create designs that represent them and the wedding day they have planned. All their wedding stationery should have a cohesive look and completes their wedding style. We work closely together on every step of the project to make sure everything is perfect.
Do couples choose from design templates or can you customize one based on their tastes?
I have 2 design options. First is from my curated line of invitations- I find a lot of couples need the visual and it’s a great choice for anyone who wants to shop local and keep the prices reasonable. My passion is creating custom designs for couples with a unique style and wedding theme.
What is the proofing process like?
The first stage of proofs are done digitally until the couple is happy with the look and wording. After the digital proofs are approved I print a complete sample and mail to them for approval so they are able to hold it in their hands and make sure everything is perfect.
What is the typical turn-around time?
Typically I like to have 3-4 months to complete an order but I have designed and shipped invitations in less than a month.
What trends are you seeing among Maritime couples lately when it comes to stationery?
I am still seeing a lot of gold and pastel tones. This season I am seeing couples choose simple and beautiful typography style invites printed on specialty papers and accenting with fabric ribbons and tags. The watercolor trend is still strong and I love when a couple wants to incorporate a bit of East Coast into a design.
What is the most unique invitation you have designed?
One of my favourite stationery suites incorporated a photo of a old teal shade barn door which was the inspiration for the bride’s whole wedding and was also used for the seating chart.
Do you offer more than just stationery?
I also provide graphic design services to small businesses, mostly fellow wedding vendors and mompreneurs.
