Stephanie and Josh, both Registered Nurses, met one night while they were working in the same hospital. Stephanie had to float to another unit where Josh was working and they’ve been inseparable ever since.
The pair envisioned an oceanside wedding on the Nova Scotia coast. “Josh and I both love the ocean and knew that we wanted to be close to the ocean for our reception,” Stephanie says. They invited their close family and friends to join them for a ceremony at Saint Benedict Parish. For the reception, the couple chose Shining Waters, where they could host a large celebration but still have an intimate feel. Stephanie and Josh planned the elegant oceanside wedding, which took place on October 8, 2016, with the help from Carolyn McKay from Shining Waters and tapped photographer Caitlyn Colford to capture all of their hard work.
Josh and Stephanie’s day was the perfect curation of their love story full of thoughtful details, delicious food, and plenty of love. You won’t want to miss the charming photos of this beautiful Nova Scotian wedding!
Stephanie paired her romantic Oleg Cassini gown with a pair of pearl drop earrings that she purchased at Winner’s. Her bouquet was the perfect match for the charming wedding she had envisioned. It was overflowing with a lush combination of garden roses, mirrored in the colors used throughout the day, as well as the Fall’s natural foliage.
The ceremony, which was in the grand Saint Benedict Parish, began with Stephanie’s father walking her down the aisle while the bride’s closest friends and coworkers sang and played the ceremony music. After exchanging traditional vows, the couple was officially pronounced husband and wife.
Josh’s classic grey suit and tie were all from Vera Wang. Not to be outdone by his bride’s gorgeous blooms, Josh completed his look with a plum rose boutonniere that was perfectly accentuated with greenery.
Photos of the newly married couple along with their bridal party were taken a Hemlock Ravines and finished off taking photos by the awe-inspiring ocean.
In remembrance of their loved ones, Stephanie and Josh decided to have a memorial table. “It was right beside the dance floor and we knew that our grandparents were there with us during all the special moments of our day,” Jessica recounts.
Inside, tables with crisp white linens filled the room. Stunning floral arrangements and romantic votive candles adorned each table. Stephanie and Josh’s two-tiered wedding cake was stunning: layers of delicious cake topped with buttercream and decorated with blooms and a cake topper designed by the couple and the bride’s mom.
The couple’s wedding was truly a collective effort as all of the couple’s close friends and family contributed to their day in their own way. “Whenever my Mom and I liked something we would pick it up for the wedding and in the end, everything just came together,” recalls Stephanie. “My talented cousin Rebecca designed our invitations that are stunning and my Mother-In-Law made the bridesmaid scallop shell creation to hold their earrings. It was a scallop shell we collected on the beach in Chester with a Nova Scotian tartan pillow she sewed with a thank you ribbon.” Stephanie’s brother’s girlfriend and her bridesmaids helped make the centerpieces and church pews and her sister and cousin designed a Snap Chat filter for the day. Talk about a talented and creative family!
Stephanie and Josh wanted the reception to be like a Nova Scotia Kitchen party full of lots of Nova Scotia music and of course lots of dancing. From these dance floor photos it’s easy to see that the day was full of lots of laughter, fun and love. “I could not have planned a better day, it was perfect!” recalls Stephanie. To couples currently planning a wedding, Stephanie says, “the day passes by so quickly so take in every moment and do not stress about the small stuff! It is your special day so do whatever you want!”
